Sorry for the long delay between comics. We recently got a PS3 and a big ass TV, so now we're perpetually watching Netflix and playing video games. Who's got time to goof off on the internet when there's so much entertainment to be had!

But seriously, remember the old days when you could still watch a show even though the reception wasn't great? Sometimes you could get a sexy channel and make out just enough picture and just enough sound. Nowadays it's all or nothing. If there's no picture, there's no sound.

A conversation that Inna and I always have is criticizing the companies who advertise "we can help you save money, buy our book or watch our program." Of course, step one is always to identify what you're spending on stuff you don't need. Usually it's some kind of cable TV. Really? Who NEEDS it? I'm sure you know someone out there who's barely making it, yet they've got all the channels they'll never need plus the premium channels they'll never watch. Then you see that they've all got fancy cell phones...really?

Anyway, chickens need TV too.

We've been (re)watching a lot of X-Files episode recently, but even before the show I'm sure some of you have already drawn the same conclusion. I mean, c'mon! Even modern scientists are exploring the idea that life on Earth originated from a foreign source...

On top of God being an alien, Jesus is also an alien...but a different one. Pretty sure it's going to turn out that Doctor Who was Jesus the entire time. Thousands of years of broken telephone has changed the story. Which brings us to today. Why hasn't the Doctor returned to save us from ourselves?

It's true. Aggie doesn''t really get along with George. She tolerates him, but whenever he tries to make friends she loses it and gets into a fighting mood. Except that the funny part is that she doesn't fight. She just makes a lot of complaining noises while he harasses her. She tries to run, but he's persistent. And more complaining noises. Finally George gets bored and she can have some peace and quiet...for 2 minutes.

I got a message from my pal from Seattle suggesting a script for a comic. In fact, I don't think we've ever talked on the phone. Usually we communicate over websites and email, but never over phone.

And now that the iPhone is available Verizon, those of you who are switching over from AT&T can appreciate the representation of our troubles. Personally, I haven't had too many problems with it...but then again I've never been on any other network since I started using cell phones.

It's been a little over two weeks since we found Tucker dead. Poor little guy had something going on inside him that nobody could know about. Can't say that I've ever lost a pet before, I mean we've had turtles and birds growing up as a kid, but I never got close to them. They were kind of like a toy that you mostly just looked at and admired. Same with fish. Though, I'm pretty sure Gin and Tonic died due to neglect. But a cat...I still can't read the book that Inna's old boss loaned me to help me deal. I open the first page and can't even make it past the first sentence, "The way to Cat Heaven is a field of sweet grass..." *Choke*

I can't even begin to imagine what it'll be like if a person...

On the plus side of things, our remaining cat, Aggie, knows that she's going to get all the attention. In fact, she's acting a lot differently than when Tucker was around. She sits on laps now of her own free will. Weird. And she's always meowing for the cuddles, which I'm sure she learned from Tucker.

I miss the guy's voice. Every time Aggie makes that face I wonder if she's wondering where her brother is.

First of all, these photos were all taken before work actually started. Often times I have the privilege of opening up in the morning, which leaves me a few minutes to get settled in before having to start doing stuff. And doing stuff makes you crazy. The busier things get the harder it is to stay sane...especially if you need to keep track of multiple unrelated things. In order to do that you have to be organized and being organized takes a lot of effort.

Yes, people talk to themselves. I didn't used to, but now I do. I have to. It's the only way to make sense of things. Amirite?

Basically this comic and the last two ones are set in the same venue. Our band BOX OF BIRDS played at this new(ish) venue called The Strange near LACC. It's pretty spacious with a good sound system. However, it is implied in this comic that there is no audience. That's not completely true. There were 3 people in the audience: the sound guy, the door lady and the girlfriend.

Psh. I've played to emptier rooms...no not my bedroom.

The thing that I dislike the most about being in a band is the promoting. Well, it's not like I don't like it, I just don't have a grasp on the concept. Sure, I tell my friends and then what? Also, my friends have seen me perform the same 7 songs for the past 6 years. Why would they bother? I don't blame them.

God bless the movie magic that let's filmmakers transform this tunnel into the entrance to the Bat Cave from the TV show. Needless to say, I was actually expecting a real cave. I mean, there are a couple of nooks and crannies in the tunnel, but to say that it's a CAVE...not really.

My brother was telling me that there is a parasite the lives in cats. In order for this parasite to reproduce, it somehow manages to infect mice. This infection causes mice to have an affinity for cats rather than their normal behavior. Apparently, this parasite can live in humans and can possibly explain why we have crazy cat ladies. Though one study only found a correlation between this parasite and reckless driving.

Could this parasite have been the cause of me crashing my car months ago? Sounds like BS.

I don't think I'm that critical of Inna's driving. I'm still torn about the whole vehicle thing. On the one hand I feel free from the burden of that giant money sucking machine. I don't really miss driving or the traffic. I can space out and enjoy the scenery. But on the other hand, I kind of miss getting to places quickly.

We tried to catch the Purple Line two weeks ago, but it had stopped running at 11pm at night. Kind of awkward standing there waiting for a train that was never going to arrive. The worst part is that all over the subway are ads for doing stuff in Korea Town. Take the Purple Line they say. Well, please have the train run...even once an hour would've been fine. Oh well. Not that I take that Purple Line anywhere anyway. Though, Beverly Hills or Westwood would be a goods top to have.

So, I'm a little late to the party as far as Oscars conversations go. Am, I not right though? Only a week after the broadcast/awards show there is zero buzz. Sure, I'm guilty of adding a couple of the films to my Netflix queue, but it's pretty low effort and I'm not exactly excited to see them. I'd rather watch Bitch Slap or Farscape. They're in there nonetheless and I'll watch them and decide for myself if the Academy was right for last year. However, I'm sure all you hipster filmmakers out there have had this fantasy at least once.

One of the things we did as a family over Christmas was to go bowling. We like hanging out as a family, but for the first time we actually did stuff as a family. Two trips to the movies, bowling, eating out a couple times, drinking and playing Wii. Like whoa! We must be entering a new era in the development of our family. What's going to happen when the kids start bringing home their kids.

That's too far in the future to imagine (though, not really).

So, we went to see a performance. Not sure they were ready at all. Inna's sister said that not everybody came to rehearsal consistently, which I don't understand. I know I've said it before about digital TV, but it has become really inconvenient. The channels we used to watch with mediocre reception are now completely unwatchable...That's pretty much all PBS channels. So, now all we're relying heavily on Netflix and online streaming for our entertainment.

Last week was pretty rainy. So I bummed rides from my coworker and it totally spoiled my bus riding rhythm. Sorta forgot how much extra effort I need to put in to stay on schedule. Oh well.

Watching my brothers play video games is pretty hilarious. Things get heated really fast and it's always the controller's fault of the game doesn't go right. I mean, c'mon! Friggin' thing needs batteries. We tried to rent the new Mario Kart, but it was all sold out everywhere...So, monster truck racing had to do.

Later on my sister rented the Ghostbusters game from the library. Super cool, but too many cut scenes. Anyway, I'm running out of Christmas pictures to make comics from. Maybe we'll be back to regular old jokes in February.

Here's another Christmas comic. My sister's really not that greedy. I don't know how you all distribute presents, but in my family my dad acts as the "Santa." He reads out loud the to/from note on the gifts, while all the kids (now 29/27/26/15) stand in line waiting to hand him the next one.

God, we're starting to get old.

So, it's pretty certain that I won't be repairing my car any time soon. Apparently the other party spent more than my coverage on their repairs and now I have to pay out of pocket. Jerks. This really makes me one of the people.

I suddenly noticed yesterday as I was riding the subway, that a zillion people were getting on and off at each stop. Wow. Maybe it's because I travel during rush hour, but Inna and I noticed the same thing around midnight last Saturday. GOOOOOO METRO!

Also, sorry about the lame Avatar joke in the comic. I still don't see the reasoning behind calling the natives of the planet "The People." People are giving Jimmy a lot of credit for his imagination...but really, "The People?" I probably would've settled for "Earth People" or "Forest People."

I'm well into the third month of taking public transit everywhere, but unlike the comic, I don't miss driving. Don't get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoy the convenience my automobile provides, but like the comic, I feel free from the slavery of the industry.

Once I get my car fixed, I might continue with transit. I can't wait to be that old lady who only drives to church and the grocery.

Inevitably, a family vacation always leads to a family photo. Everything actually went pretty smoothly.

The funniest part of the evening was when my mom got drunk on margaritas. We were all pretty drunk, but listening to her slurred speech and jump from topic to topic was classic.

The other funny part was the previous day when my brother was driving us from Portland to Corvallis. In the middle of the night the car ran out of gas on I-5. I guess it was a little scary, especially the part when some random tow truck pulled up next to us and asked if we needed "help". Murder. Thank goodness my brother called his roadside assistance and someone was already on the way.

I was initially planning to make some comics while I was visiting my family up in Oregon this Christmas. But wouldn't you know it? I forgot my camera's computer cable. Oh well. Now you all get to relive my vacation.

Tonight's comic is partially true...except that I wasn't sitting next to a fat guy. Instead, the guy was really muscly armed. So muscly armed that his biceps were practically punching me in the face by just being there.
